About Jason

“versatile and fresh”

International operatic tenor Jason Nichols brings power and energy to his portrayals through soaring high notes and an authentic presence that moves beyond the stage.

Jason Nichols, who “sings...with vulnerability and passion” (Roanoke Times), is a versatile American tenor with ample experience both on stage and in the studio. Currently based in Prague, he will make his debut as Rodolfo in La bohème this season at the Silesian Theatre Opava.

 

Jason has made concert and recital appearances in the U.S., Czech Republic, France, Germany, Austria, Madagascar and beyond. He recently premiered the role of the Prince in Dvořák's Rusalka with Opera Arlington, appeared in The Dallas Symphony’s production of Salome under conductor Fabio Luisi, and performed in the modern premieres of two operas by J.H. Schmelzer at the Olomouc Baroque Festival. Jason has also performed with Opera Roanoke and Opera on the James, and has sung under the illustrious batons of Marzio Conti, Hilary Griffiths, Lukas Beikercher, Marius Stieghorst, and Steven White.

On the opera stage and in concert, Jason has appeared as Don José (Carmen), Il Duca (Rigoletto), Rodolfo (La Bohème), and many more. He holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Georgia and a Graduate Artist Certificate from the University of North Texas.
